Giving back to the local community
Evening talks - Open to all
We run a series of evening talks annually for the local equine community, ranging from gastric ulcers to skin diseases, behaviour to poor performance, dentistry to nutrition. Attendees can vote for their favourite two topics out of a dozen and our vets will speak about the most popular two on the night. We assign plenty of time for Q&A (which is very much encouraged!), and attendees have a chance to talk to our vets in the interval. These talks are held at venues throughout our practice area from January to March.

Paraprofessional CPD
2024 saw the launch of the provision of continual professional development talks for local farriers, physiotherapists, yard owners and grooms, some with guest speakers. Topics included foot X-rays from a vet’s perspective, back pain, the ridden horse pain ethogram and biosecurity. We know the successful outcome of cases relies on working closely with our paraprofessionals to optimise your horse, donkey or ponies’ health, and we feel these evenings help to develop working relationships with these valuable members of the horse health team.
Supporting Our Local PC/RC
We support the members of our local riding and pony clubs through the provision of vets as guest speakers at rallies and AGMs, plus a special discount for members of allied clubs on certain procedures.

Support of Local Riders
We are proud to support local riders in their competitive ventures and we always enjoy an update with how our clients have been getting on at competition.

Fire & Rescue Training
Alan enjoys working with local, national and international fire and rescue crews as part of their large animal rescue training, lecturing on everything from equine behaviour to chemical restraint of horses.

Fundraising
Celtic Equine Vets are proud sponsors numerous local charities such as The Fortune Centre for Riding Therapy and the Hampshire & IOW Air Ambulance. Fundraising in 2024 resulted in a donation of £750 to the HIOWAA. This is just a small contribution to help these local charities continue their amazing work.
