Independent Practice
As an Independent practice we have full control over all aspects of how we operate. This allows us to choose which products we use, what we charge for our services, which lab we send your samples to and importantly which hospitals we refer you to when your equine is poorly. Being Independent means the practice is owned by the vets working in the practice and not by non-vet shareholders as is the case with the corporate owned practices. In essence we feel as an independent practice that we, in conjunction with the client, have complete clinical freedom in how we deal with each and every case. Also none of our clinical or business protocols or procedures are dictated to us by an external source.
Emergency Service Provision
We are one of a few local independent practices locally that still provide our own ‘out of hours’ emergency cover.
Our vets understand how upsetting and stressful it can be when your horse, pony or donkey is unwell. When the worst happens, we know the importance of seeing a familiar and friendly face that you already know and trust. We always aim to attend emergencies within the hour (traffic and other emergencies permitting!). In line with our views on economic transparency, please note that a surcharge is applied to attendance of emergencies ‘out of hours’.

Working closely with travelling experts
We have good relationships with travelling surgeons, dental experts, cardiologist and ophthalmologists. This allows more advanced therapies to be performed at home. Procedures such as removal of infected splint bone fractures or patella ligament splitting surgery can be done safely and effectively at home. Many clients are often interested to witness the procedure in-person, and we find that this client engagement and direct contact with the expert results in improved post-operative care
